Georgia’s trouncing of Tennessee remains the most impressive win of the season by any team thus far. The defending National Champs have looked impressive as of late after some shaky performances early in the year. They will surely secure a spot in the playoff with an undefeated record and an SEC championship.
2. Michigan
The Michigan Wolverines continued to roll this week when they dominated Nebraska with another stellar performance from their Heisman candidate Blake Corum. Michigan now ranks number 1 in total defense as they prepare to take on a reeling Illinois team before heading to Columbus to take on the high-powered offense of the Buckeyes.
3. Ohio St
The Buckeyes had no trouble at all as they rolled Indiana this past Saturday. They appear to be rebuilding some momentum at just the right time, but the injury to star running back Miyan Williams may slow them down. With Maryland on the schedule this week, Ohio St must be careful not to look ahead to the big matchup with Michigan.
4. TCU
TCU’s 17-10 win over Texas may be the most impressive win of the season for them so far. Rather than the no-defense, high-scoring, close games that we’ve grown accustomed to with TCU, we witnessed a hard-nosed, defensive battle. Now that TCU has shown they can beat quality opponents in a multitude of ways, we may have to start considering them as a legitimate title contender.
5. Tennessee
Hendon Hooker and the Tennessee offense have given us a spectacle for the ages this season, but their defense continues to allow opponents to score. Nevertheless, their single loss to Georgia leaves them as the most obvious choice for the top-ranked 1-loss team.
