Mantrez Walker, Michigan’s recent 2025 linebacker commit, is a guy that Michigan football fans will want to keep an eye on. Walker, a prospect from Georgia, held offers from seven SEC schools, as well as Michigan’s in-conference foes, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Penn State.
Walker will eventually look to fit into a linebacker group that is shaping up to be one of the best-looking position groups on the team. With Chris Partridge rejoining the team as the linebackers coach, and elite linebackers like Junior Colson, Michael Barrett, Ernest Hausmann, and Nikhai Hill-Green establishing a culture of excellence, Mantrez Walker will likely walk into a competitive and productive position group room.
"We’ll develop you to get to the next level and become a Michigan Man, even in life after football. You’ll be taken care of."
Mantrez Walker to recruits visiting Michigan
While many recruiting sites still don’t have their 2025 rankings established, Mantrez Walker opened some eyes when Rivals gave him a four-star rating, ranking him as the third-best inside linebacker in the nation.
Not only is Mantrez Walker looking to impact the Michigan football team as a player, but he has also become a recruiter for the Wolverines. He was recently heard preaching to recruits visiting Ann Arbor, “We’ll develop you to get to the next level and become a Michigan Man, even in life after football. You’ll be taken care of.”

Mantrez Walker has been recruited heavily by Michigan’s Jesse Minter and Sherrone Moore. But the job is not finished. In today’s college football, a lot can change on the recruiting trail, and a verbal commitment doesn’t mean what it used to. Chris Partridge and the Michigan football staff will want to stay close to this young superstar.
For a team that prioritizes character over natural talent, Mantrez Walker appears to have both. He is certainly a name Michigan fans will want to remember.
