The Dallas Cowboys reached up sightly in the 1st round to take Mazi Smith, and then again surprised us by reaching in the second round to pick up Luke Schoonmaker. Mazi and Schoon weren’t the only pair of Wolverines to join a Michigan teammate at their NFL destination. DJ Turner and Brad Robbins went to Cincinnati, Jake Moody and Ronnie Bell got scooped up by San Francisco, and Olu Oluwatimi and Mike Morris got picked up by Seattle within minutes of each other. The only player that did not get the double trouble treatment was Ryan Hayes, who got picked up in the 7th round by the Miami Dolphins.
With Jake Moody and Brad Robbins both getting drafted, Michigan became just the second team in 40 years to have their kicker and punter picked up in the same draft. With 9 draft picks, Michigan led the Big 10 and came up just short of Georgia and Alabama to lead the nation.
