The Michigan Wolverines remain atop the Big Ten power rankings as they cruise past ECU. Michigan showcased an air attack that fans have been waiting for, as JJ McCarthy connected with Roman Wilson for three touchdowns. The non-con doesn’t get any tougher for the Wolverines next week. They will face UNLV in Ann Arbor this Saturday.
2. Ohio State
The Buckeyes struggled to gain momentum against an inferior opponent when they took on Indiana over the weekend. First-year starting quarterback Kyle McCord looked uncomfortable for much of the game, but Ohio St managed to pull away late. They edge out Penn State (just barely) for the second spot in this week’s power rankings.
3. Penn State
West Virginia gave Penn St a dog fight for the first half, but the Nittany Lions took over in the second. Drew Allar looked the part and could become a premier quarterback nationally. Is this the year Penn St manages to knock off one of the Big Ten giants?
4. Wisconsin
Wisconsin wore out Buffalo in their season opener with a relentless ground attack. Running backs Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi combines for 298 yards and 4 touchdowns. This impressive stat line, along with Iowa’s unimpressive victory puts the Badgers firmly ahead of the Hawkeyes.
5. Iowa
Iowa’s embarrassing offense of a year ago hopes to get a boost from Michigan transfers Cade McNamara and Erik All. McNamara started fast with two quick passing touchdowns, including one to All, but the final score of 24-14 against Utah state underwhelmed in a typical Iowa fashion.
